Oil Can Guitar

Introduction

Who doesn’t want one of these?

Basically as my first build of sorts. The intention here is to make a basic body, focusing on measurements and routing.

Parts

For this I purchased a moderately attractive can of oil from my local auto factors:

I also got a Dean ML X neck

For hardware, I’m using the old tuners from my Rat project and the bridge and tailpiece from an LTD Phoenix 1000 Deluxe (I moved to Hipshot hardware on that guitar)

For electrics, I have two zombiedust pickups which also came with the Phoenix.

Can opener

I got the base of the can off using a catering opener (above)

Mock-up

Next I’m going to work on creating the body to live inside the oil can.
